We ask all vendors to observe the following guidelines for best practices.

Lakeside Market Bylaws

1. Vendors must operate during official market hours, from eight am to twelve pm, and cannot tear down early without prior approval from the market manager to ensure a consistent customer experience. 

2. At least seventy-five percent of vendors must sell fresh produce, meats, or dairy they’ve grown or raised themselves to focus on local, farm-direct products. 

3. Up to twenty-five percent of vendors can be artisans or cottage food producers selling handmade goods or low-risk items like baked goods or jams, subject to market manager approval. 

4. All vendors must comply with Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development standards, including proper licensing, labeling, and temperature control for perishable items (below forty-one degrees Fahrenheit or above one hundred thirty-five degrees Fahrenheit). 

5. Booths must be clean, with clear signage displaying the vendor’s name and product prices. 

6. Vendors are responsible for their own setup, including tables and tents, and must pass health inspections during market hours. 

7. Vendors must clean up their booth area and remove all trash at the end of each market day to maintain a tidy site. 

8. Vendors must maintain professional conduct, avoiding aggressive sales tactics or disputes, to ensure a friendly market atmosphere. 

9. Vendors must provide proof of general liability insurance (minimum one million dollars coverage) to participate, submitted with their application. Unless other arrangements were made with the market manager prior.

10. Submit an application with product details at least two weeks before joining, and pay booth fees (twenty-five dollars per market day, non-refundable) by the market day. 2025 Fees will be waived for the season.
